Mr. Kenichi Suganuma, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Maldives accorded a special Commendation to Mr. Ahmed Shain, former Liaison Staff of the Embassy in the Republic of Maldives in order to recognize his long-term and outstanding contributions to the Embassy, at the reception held to felicitate the inauguration of the Chancellery of the Embassy of Japan in the Maldives on 8th February 2016.
Duly appointed by the Government of Japan as Liaison Staff in the Maldives in May 2009, Mr. Shain served in this capacity until December 2015. Being a fluent Japanese speaker Mr. Shain performed numerous duties for the Embassy of Japan which had operated from Colombo, until the establishment of the Chancellery in January this year. Mr. Shain’s invaluable service as Liaison Staff in the Maldives contributed significantly to enhance Japan-Maldives relationship during this period.
Mr. Shain, a Maldivian National, graduated from the Ahamadhiyaa School, Malé and had studied Japanese language and tour guiding at the Institute of Hotel and Catering Services, Malé and pursued a career in the hospitality industry in Maldives. Subsequently he was appointed as Liaison Staff in the Maldives in 2009 and served until December 2015
